The Beacon™ Chest Seal is an advanced occlusive wound dressing specifically designed to manage open chest wounds resulting from penetrating injuries. Such injuries can lead to tension pneumothorax, a primary cause of preventable battlefield fatalities. The chest seal features a medical-grade hydrogel adhesive that ensures strong adherence, even in challenging conditions involving blood, sweat, hair, sand, or water. Available in both vented and non-vented versions, the vented design incorporates a patented system allowing one-way airflow out of the chest cavity during exhalation, while preventing ingress during inhalation. This mechanism maximizes venting efficiency and maintains proper chest seal function, even if an obstruction occurs.​
