Life can be overwhelming. We have to face whatever life sends us, tolerate uncertainty, forgive our own mistakes, go after what we want, and take care of the people we love—with or without the experiences that bring the strengths and skills required. Sometimes it’s all too much for one person to take, especially if the past is still unresolved. Each of us is only human, and without enough support we develop patterns like depression, anxiety, addiction, and feeling stuck. Sometimes our marriages or intimate relationships aren’t working the way we would like, or we’re struggling with having children, or with raising the ones we have. Sometimes we’re trying to adapt to a world that just doesn’t seem to make sense. That’s what therapy is for.
