Wedged between Northcote and Preston, you’ll find the lovely suburb of Thornbury. It’s a laid-back, suburban time capsule, full of ramshackle cafes and old Italian social clubs. There’s plenty of public transport here (the trusty South Morang line runs right alongside High St), and you’ve got bars, shops and even a cinema, all within walking distance.
