With improper sound level meter calibration, you could essentially be using a machine that has a noise level that is potentially hazardous to the surrounding workers. This makes sound level calibration highly crucial to ensuring that you have a workplace that is completely safe, and that your workers can operate at optimum capacity. As per Australian standards, audiometers need to be calibrated and recertified once every year, whereas a sound level meter (Also known as a noise meter) and sound level calibrators require calibration and recertification once every two years. However, some manufacturers recommend calibration once every year.
